My love for Lord of the Rings led me to meet the love of my life, and now I can’t keep myself from associating Middle-Earth with him. It’s added a whole other dimension to how very much Tolkien’s world means to me!
This brings together two of my favourite things — The Beatles & Tolkien.
And thankfully Kili is compared to George. : )
Thanks so much to beatlegirlsconfessions for sending this our way! Apparently someone got confused and thought beatlegirlsconfessions was beatlesconfessions!

98 years ago began “a series of widespread, unofficial ceasefires that took place along the Western Front around Christmas 1914, during World War I,” which indlued the singing of Christmas carols and football matches between British, German, and sometimes French troops in no-man’s land.
♈ Aries: Will demand their freedom yet become possessive themselves. Will see the world through rose-coloured glasses when they are in love. They become total romantics yet can be embarrassed by this and don’t like people seeing their vulnerable side
♉ Taurus: They are old fashioned in love and a confusing mix of sentimentality and toughness. Although they appear composed they have deeply intensified feelings of love and like to show physical evidence of it. It takes a long time for Taureans to give away their hearts, and only the strong will survive the wait
♊ Gemini: A Gemini will want to make friends with you first. Most of the relationship will base around conversation, big ideas and soul satisfying deep and meaningfuls. Although Gemini is desperate to find their long lost twin; they often surprise themselves with their detachment from people, and a lack of feeling; they also guard their freedom very forcefully
♋ Cancer: A Cancerian will instantly know what their partner wants in a relationship; they are very intuitive and ‘sixth-sense’ when it comes to this. They take love rather seriously and are very sensitive to any turbulence in their relationships. While their friends are out drinking; they’re busy picking names for your future children or mentally decorating their nurseries
Cancer: In love. <3

68 years ago, a month long siege began that started off as a German offensive (which would end up being their last on the Western Front) in an attempt to divide the Allied forces and prevent an invasion of Germany. Allied forces were caught unprepared by a German counterthrust in the wooded Ardennes region of southern Belgium. The German drive was initially successful but was halted by Allied resistance and reinforcements, including the famed “Battered Bastards of Bastogne,” the 101st Airborne. The Germans eventually withdrew in January 1945, but both sides suffered heavy losses.

87 years ago, one of my favourite historical figures and probably my favourite politician was born.
Robert Francis Kennedy.

He was US Attorney General during his brother’s presidency and helped shape policies during the early 1960s. He was a noted civil rights activist and, in my opinion, was critical in the Kennedy administration’s stance and doings on civil rights.
After his brother’s assassination and through his presidential campaign in 1968, he became a beacon of hope for so many and his own assassination in June 1968 truly ended a time in American history that can never again be reached, a time of hope and progress.
Especially those who claim to be “best friends,” should be the ones who support you, your decisions, and your relationships, believe in you, and be the ones who help you accomplish your hopes/dreams/wishes.
They shouldn’t be the ones demeaning your decisions, questioning your actions, or hoping for your relationships to fail.
If I state that I’m happy in a relationship and foresee myself continue being this happy in the future, my “best friend” shouldn’t go behind my back, telling others he sees it failing and that when it does, he will be the one I turn to… and am “secretly in love with.”
Truth is: I’m not “in love” with you. I was never “in love” with you. I never even had a moment where I considered liking you. So stop badmouthing my happy relationship with a man I’m actually in love (no quotations necessary) with. You’re the one whose been in love with me for five years, find something else to hold onto because there isn’t anything here. Life isn’t a movie and, in this case, I’m happy it isn’t.
99 years ago, today, one of my favourite authors was born in Algeria. He became one of the most famous absurdist writers and one of his works, The Fall, inspired me the moment I read it and influences me still.

50 years ago today, the Cuban Missile Crisis, in my opinion, came to its most crucial point.
As the quarantine around Cuba looked to be threatened by oncoming Soviet ships, Adlai Stevenson went before an emergency session of the UN Security Council and laid out fact after fact that the Soviets were moving missiles into Cuba secretly, which threatened all those around the island nation. While many thought Stevenson would not be forceful enough, he demanded an answer from his Soviet counterpart and was “prepared to wait for [his] answer until Hell freezes over.” And when his accusations were denied, he landed his final and deadly blow by revealing photographs to prove the existence of said missiles.

Now, before the entire world, the Soviet Union was exposed and it was up to them to pull the world back from the brink of destruction.
